Sticky Dash Light Switch
.

Ken,.

Doc here, I'm finally back in the saddle so I can respond to your inquiry. First of all you need to remove the plastic covering around the steering wheel so that you can get to the headlight switch itself. If there is a plastic cover at the backside of the switch remove it, then get out the WD 40, and spray it in the contacts and operate the switch several times. Note the operation since there are finger contacts that open and close as you turn the control knob. Pay special attention to this area when you turn it on the first click since this is when the marker lights turn on and the dash light circuit come on with them. Please also check the fuses in the right kick-panel in the fuse box..

The other question that I have for you is: does the rheostat for the dash light dimmer operate properly? Sometimes this switch needs to be cycled several times so that the connection in the switch contacts get cleaned. Please do the tests and the prescribed service operations and then get back to me with your results. I hope that this will shed some light on the subject for you..

280Z Dies SudenlyTravis here(Zonc #98029), in Fresno. I have a problem with my 1977 280z which I can not figure out. It started today. Just driving down the road the car shut off, I disengaged the clutch and it started right back up. I drove it home only about a mile. Tonight I drove it to FSU and it shut off 3 times on the way there, while it was cold and running at temp. I just hooked up a test light to the fuel pump and drove the car. The light is inline with the pump so when the pump is getting power the light is on.
