Engine Swap - Big Bore L24 or L28

I am thinking of upgrading my L24 w/ an L28 w/ fuel injection. Is it more expensive to bore out my L24 to L28 dimensions or should I buy a remanufactured L28 w/ fuel injection from Nissan? I also would like to add an LD28 crankshaft for more torque.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Hi Jack,

Doc here. It is not advisable to try boring the L24 block to the L28 size. I believe the cylinder walls get too thin for dependability. Start with the 280 block and finding a good one rebuild one stock, or with oversize pistons. The LD28 crankshaft stuff is more exotic and will work but many $$$ are required with more parts to correctly perform this engine
build. My best suggestion is to count the cost, and contact Jim Bowen in the ZONC Club. He has one of these things that I believe is happy with and he can fill you in on the truth of the total package, and the approximate cost too.

I hope that you can find some light to your questions..........and Wisdom too...........
